The return to the countryside – La vuelta al campo
Within a neoliberal context marked by poverty and exclusion, land re-distribution together with food production become part of the return to the countryside.
Juan Pablo Lepore was born in Capital Federal. He studied Image and Sound Design in the University of Buenos Aires. Since 2010 he founds Documentary Collective Seeds together with Nicolás van Caloen, which in short documentaries format, show the filming work carried out in different journeys, getting to know social organizations that propose alternatives to the exclusion and poverty capitalist model. He returns to Argentina in 2013 and associates to DOCA (Documentalistas de Argentina (Argentine Documentary Makers)) with the clear future vision of contributing to local documentary scenery with the recorded experiences. “The Return to the Countryside” is his fifth full length film, “Sin patrón, una revolución permanente” (“No boss, a permanent revolution”) (2014), “La jugada del peón: el agronegocio letal” (The pawn’s move: the deadly agribusiness) (2015), “Olvídalos y volverán por más: megaminería y neoliberalismo” (“Forget about them and they will come for more: mega-mining and neoliberalism”) (2016) and Agroecología en Cuba (Agroecology in Cuba) (2017).
