Maricá, 25, is the young Kuikuro with the most experience outside of the village. He lived for more than one year away from the Xingu Indigenous Park, playing for the Indigenous Football Team. He is the son of Tabata Kuikuro, one of the most important Kuikuro chiefs. He is currently trying to reconcile his video work with his Funasa job. He is fanatical for music and computers.
As the dry season comes to an end, it’s the time of celebration and merriment in the Alto Xingu. The smell of the damp earth is mixed with the sweet perfume of pequi. But it has not always been like that: if it had not been for a death, the pequi would possibly not exist.
